RG-T Rain Gauge
The RG-T Rain Gauge features a chemically milled tipper bucket for consistent balance and easy calibration.  The tipper bucket pivots on shock-mounted jeweled bearings providing a sensitive yet rugged low friction pivot to track rainfall accurately.

A precision adjustment for the reed switch ensures one switch closure for each tip of the bucket.  The tipper, bearings and magnetic reed switch are held in sturdy machined aluminum mounting blocks.  These are seated on a rigid cast aluminum base.  The calibration adjustment screws are protected against loss of calibration during handling.

Screens in the funnel and over the base plate water outlets seal out spiders and insects.  The cable, which terminates in a waterproof circular bayonet connector, is protected from rodents by braided stainless steel armor.  A built-in level coupled with a precision adjustment leveling arm and mounting base make installing the RG-T fast and easy.

The FTS Rain Gauge is considered by a number of outside experts, including those with a lot of field experience, to be one of the best tipping bucket rain gauges in the world, with an unbeatable combination of quality, accuracy, and long lasting calibration.

The redesign of this quality product includes investing in a special casting process so that we can precision cast the gauge’s internal structure as a single piece, rather than a number of separate posts and supports.  The result will be a more rigid gauge with even greater resistance to vibration and increased repeatability from one gauge to the next.
