Turbidity & Sediment Transport Studies
The challenges of providing meaningful information from continuous in-stream turbidity monitoring in remote sites are significant.  Unlike laboratory calibration solutions, streams and rivers are a 'noisy' environment.  Bubbles, fish, bits of material carried along by the current, animals, and bio-growth on the sensor lens are just some of the potential confounding variables.  Effective deployment, particularly in low volume streams or rivers with large changes in stage, presents other obstacles to representative sampling and practical maintenance.

Through years of field work FTS has developed expertise in helping clients manage these problems.  We can offer specialized mounting and deployment systems, special routines and algorithms for immediate triggering of auto-samplers based on on-site parameter measurement, and unique filtering and averaging algorithms to create meaningful measurements for difficult waterways.
