The FTS Folding Mast is a platform designed for mounting a wide variety of remote monitoring equipment such as FTS enclosures, dataloggers, sensors, solar panels and communications equipment. The mast consists of two sections: a fixed mast section on which most of the station equipment is mounted, and a telescopic mast section that is hinged at its lower end to the base.  By releasing a locking pin that holds the telescopic mast section in a vertical position, the mast can be easily lowered or raised to service components mounted on this section — typically the solar panel, wind sensors and possibly communication antennas.

FEATURES AND BENEFITS

• This mast might be considered semi-permanent.  It is easier to disassemble a station mounted to this platform, and to move it to another location
• Less expensive than heavier ‘trileg’ platforms
• Fast and easy to install; two people can set one up in about 45 minutes, with minimal tools required
• Two sets of heavy ‘aircraft’ type insulated galvanized cable will support the FTS Folding Mast through severe wind conditions
• The folding section provides fast easy access to the wind sensors

During installation, an arrow on the mast base is aligned to true north.  After this, all components requiring alignment to true north, will automatically be correctly positioned.  All mast components are made from aluminum, galvanized steel, or stainless steel.
