Fire Weather Monitoring Experience

WHO: FTS was founded in 1980 by a forestry researcher dedicated to developing  better solutions – tougher and easier to use, for the demanding weather information requirements of North America’s forest fire management agencies. The fire community’s requirements for rock-solid dependability and fast, trouble-free operation shaped FTS’s early product development efforts and created a corporate culture intensely dedicated to meeting the practical needs of the wildland fire community.

WHAT: We design and manufacture weather stations and software specifically designed to meet fire weather operational requirements, regulatory maintenance standards, such as NWCG, and to support and calculate NFDRS and Canadian FWI.  Communications equipment, designed and manufactured by FTS, ranges from GOES satellite transmitters to networks of hundreds of radio and telephone modem equipped weather stations, and numerous other options. FTS offers free lifetime technical support as well as a wide range of service, maintenance and installation contracts, field and factory training.

WHY CHOOSE FTS: Our weather stations reflect three decades of research and development focused on creating the world’s most reliable, easiest to use, and simplest to maintain fire weather systems.  The FTS Quick Deploy weather station takes just 10 minutes to set-up and be operational – no special training or technical knowledge required.

WHERE: FTS equipment has proven itself under the most demanding conditions, from remote northern locations such as the Harding Icefield to the sun beaten, wind-blown salt and sand of the Mexican coast. Our customers include over 50 government agencies in the United States, Canada, and Mexico – customers who demand the highest levels of reliability, accuracy, and operational effectiveness.

TODAY and TOMORROW: FTS automated weather stations, communications technology, and software will continue to define and advance the standards for fire weather information systems, from single sites to nationwide networks.  A major part of our ongoing research and development investment is specifically dedicated to constant improvement and expansion of our fire weather systems and services.

Thirty years of hard work have made us an effective and trusted supplier to the wildland fire community.  We look forward to continuing and deepening that relationship.
